Worl Economic Forum Anual Meeting 2014

From one side, to the other. As darker is the activity of the Bilderberg Meetings, this is bigger the sort of Hollywood show members of the World Economic Forum set up every year in Davos.

I am not very sure if this event has important consequences for the world governance. Skepticals would say I am näif if I think there is a deep discussion in this Resort. But the fact it is very important people meet there and they talk about what do they think on the current situation of politics and economics. At least, it is worth to have a certain idea of their statements.

Last month the Forum released the final report of the meeting. We can see they enjoyed, but also we received several messages about their diagnosis of the current environment. According to the ambitious goal of reshaping the world, one could think they promote a huge change of the rules. But apart from several propaganda scoops like it is necessary to fight poverty and inequality, it seems that the reshape is to find another way to recover the path to globalization. Like the Primer Minister of Australia and Chair of G20 explains, «the G20 will focus on boosting global trade and tackling protectionism, strengthening tax systems to ensure fairness, finding ways to increase infrastructure investment, and refining financial regulations». A déja vu or an obsession, as you prefer.

You can read about other main objectives, but I feel they are closer to Aladdin’s lamp list of wishes than to the real world. A good example of that is the Pope’s message, speaking as a lamb in a meeting of wolves:

“I ask you to ensure that humanity is served by wealth, not ruled by it».
